I just finished my CG Tool Kit assignment that is due today ^^ I'm happy about that and after this blog I have to do my push 3d animation..just need a bit edit and then I'm done, and then I might read for a bit to relax, then I need to upload my programming weekly homework, and then I need to do my motion graphic assignment which is due next Friday and then my pull 3d animation...sigh...soo much to do...but at least these things are interesting to do unlike business assignments xD

So...enough said about that and now the show time of my awesome assignment has come!! TANG TANG TANG~~(8) I will also explain my steps so if you are interested in making something similar you can learn it from me~~ hehehee~~

step 1 - I went to flicker.com to find some creative comments photoes, which is copyright free. Note: you should ALWAYS use copyright free things now...I know is blah but when you think you made something awesome you would want people to ask for permission first then use your awesome work right? right! So I went through a really long search for my beloved image, and I find this. (By Will van Otterdijk, you can check his works on flicker.com)

I decided to put a giant rubik's cube in the middle of the city, which leads us to step #2.

step 2 - Photoshop the picture, like getting rid off some people in the middle, this step takes lots of time but really depends on your skills xD for me it took about 1-2hours.

step 3 - After this go to Maya, create my ruik's cube. First attempt I create a cube and texture it and a bumb map, it looks alright but not really real, it lacks the feel of depth. So I remodel the cube, create a little cube, texture it to black and duplicate the cube to create a ruik's cube. Then create a plane and line it up with the cube and texture it to a colour and then duplicate the plane to cover one surface of the cube, so now you have the rubik's cube with one side, and now use the same method to the other sides.

step 4 - create a camera, put the photo that I got on the camera for image plane, and line the cube up with the image and the position, until you are happy with it.

step 5 - lights, this is the important part also the hard part...you have to make the cube look real...and I'm too lazy to tell the steps and blah blah so you can figure out yourself...

step 6 - render and test and keep doing it until you are happy, and then render the image out and put in photoshop again for final editing.

step 7 - I had to get rid off the shadow on people from the cube, and shines on their hair and clothes and olden the cube so that it looks like it has being there for quite a time.

So here is my final product:
